Online Mystery Challenge Game - from MIT & the Smithsonian

The Smithsonian and MIT have paired up to create an eight-week online and offline game that challenges middle school students to solve an environmental disaster mystery by gathering clues at museums near their homes and working together in online forums. The game is called "Vanished" and began last Monday. Thousands of participants have signed up and students do not have to actually visit the museums to be able to play. MIT students moderate the game, and participants work with Smithsonian scientists through video conferences. Check out the link for all the information! http://vanished.mit.edu/

Free for Girls in 7-10 Grade... at JMU!

JMU is sponsoring an Expand Your Horizons event for girls in 7th-10th grades. This free Saturday program on April 9 is designed to help area girls learn more about careers in math and science. The program is free but registration is required: http://www.math.jmu.edu/~eyh/

International Space Olympics - go to Russia!

Rising Juniors and Seniors for the 2011-2012 school year can apply for this incredible opportunity to visit Russia and participate in this selective competition. Up to 10 Virginia students will be selected and they will each receive a $2,800 travel scholarship.
